Ice Man, the conculsion!

In the last post I discussed the 1st part of the ice fishing adventure, now we join our heros on a barren road going away from the lake!

We started walking down the road dragging the shantys and supplies behind us. We walked, and walked talking all the way. We started heading toward the lake, well, now I knew this guy was doing, I was begining to think we were gonna do some winter hiking or something.

We went down a little hill, and I looked to the east the sun was rising, when I see that it never gets old, God knows how to start a day.

We truched out on the ice, the Lynn started scouting the water, where to put the tip ups and shanty. Mike, Art and I were like 3 obediant puppies, doing what every he asked, Mike and Art was helping drilling the 8 inch holes, I was on clean up mostly, didn’t want to risk injurying my elbow and my luck I would find a way to put the hand auger in the bottom of the lake.

The holes were quickly drilled and then came Lynn’s friend Greg, he came on the lake with his arsenal of weapons to battle the fish including the famous Green Hornet! If you don’t know what that is watch Grumpy Old Men. Lynn and Greg kinded of reminded me of John and Max, the way they went back and forth at each other, you can tell they were great friends. Clean, good rippin’ on each other, a sign of true friendship.

We started to catch fish, Mike caught the 1st fish and then Lynn started to catch fish. ALOT of fish…he was in the zone, he even went into Art’s hole while Art was checking his grub, and caught a fish. It was classic. I think I was the last one to catch a fish. Overall we caught I’d say around 50 fish total, 20 keepers I caught 5 or 6 that went in the bucket.

It was a good day of fishing, but we did more than that, we talked about everything, mostly archery and hunting. I had to leave around 11, had a long day at work the next day and needed to rest up.

It was a great day to spend with friends some old, some new, I will do it again. It was almost like sitting at a resturant drinking coffee with friends, but we were on ice with a hole in it catch dinner instead of paying for it.

Nice post. I was waiting to see how the adventure turned out. It was almost like I was right there with you! Oh yeah, I was! It was a good time, too! Looking forward to doing it again.
