Summer Time Blues?

Well, the options are exhausted, I’m one of the 10% of the population, I am getting surgery on my right elbow on June 10th  for lateral epicondylitis, or tennis elbow .

I went to the doctors and confirmed what I thought was going to happen for over a year now. I was kinda shocked when he said 90% of people this just goes away and he said it is primarily because there isn’t proper blood flow going to the area to help the injured area heal.

The procedure only takes a half hour, they go in repair the injured area and drill a hole in my bone to get the proper blood flow to the area, healing time, 3 to 4 months.

When he said that, I thought great my summer is gone, after I feel is one of the worst winters I can remember, I am going to be stuck watching reruns of Happy Days. Some people are I talked to said  “Great,  you can stay home from work and enjoy your summer.”  Yeah, and do what?  No yard work, no 3 d shoots, no fishing, no plant food plots, no gardening, no boating, no quad riding, no filming…etc. What can I do? I will be with no use of my elbow fully in 3 to 4 months. I wasn’t feeling sorry for myself, I was trying to think of things that can occupy my time while I heal.  I can think of 3 things I can do. Edit videos, watch baseball and blog. 2 of the 3 things are going to be greatly reduced because I use both hands doing it, but I think I still can do it. No, I know I can.

In the next  month I am going to try to bag as many blogs as I can because I don’t know what is going to happen. Same goes with the video tips and reviews.  I don’t want to stray from my schedule of Team Dirt’s  friends, we are getting momentum and don’t want this to be a burden.

I will have some extra time on my hands so I want to make the most out of it, like visit non hunting friends, and go to non outdoor activities.

I have not gone to many festivals, I simply don’t have time working weekends, and fishing don’t leave alot of time for these things. One I have to go to is the cheeseburger festival. This looks really cool and it is close to my house.

Another thing I am interested in attending but defiantly not going to participate in is The Warrior Dash. It is a 3 mile-ish course where the runners go through a obstacale course, a couple of my friends are running it. Looks like fun….to watch.

I also wasn’t able into do is going to minor league baseball games. I really enjoy watching baseball, this relaxes me and the atmosphere at the parks are awesome. good stuff, plan on hitting at least 2 different parks.

It’s going to be weird not fishing or shooting my bow this summer, I just pray that I can be recovered enough to get sighted in and be able to enjoy bow season.

  1. well i’m thinking since all your gonna be doing is watching baseball, visiting non-hunting friends(hope you still visit the hunting ones lol) eating cheeseburgers, and watching fools i mean friends kill themselves on the obstical courses it’s about time you break out the crossbow, and about time you learned to fish with one hand( reeling with your teeth) it can be done and i think you are just the one to do it. The other day I was watching a man play the guitar with his feet( i can even play with my hands) so fishing should be easy breezy!!!!!! http://www.thenontypicalsportsman.com
