Bringing you over the hump

As you all know, I enjoy talking to hunters and fishermen, I like to hear the stories and maybe get a couple of tips. What cracks me up is this time up this year I hear about cabin fever.  I don’t what they are thinking, this time of the year is as busy as any other time of the year.

There is so much to do as a sportsmen, you need to prepare all year around to try to increase your odds, save some money, learn more about the animal you’re hunting and the weapon you choose to hunt with. Let me give you a couple of ideas to try to rid cabin fever from you.

Shed hunting- I really enjoy doing this for a number of reasons, the 1st is it gives you an idea on how the deer are moving, where they are bedding and if you are lucky to find a shed, it is well worth getting off the couch and walking the land you hunt.

Join an archery league -I don’t partake in this event because I don’t have the time, see told you I don’t have cabin fever. I do have a couple of guys from the team that do ALL year around. It is a great way to sharpen your skills and fellowship with other archers.

Small game hunting- I don’t understand why this isn’t more popular, this sharpens your skill with a gun, you get outside and you have meat on the table. It’s a win, win, win all around. Also to hear a beagle hot on a trail is one of the best sounds you’ll ever hear. It’s also a social sport and alot of action so you can get a kid out there that will plant the seed of hunting.

Bargin Hunting-You can also save alot of money by scanning the department stores for some incredible deals on products that they didn’t sell through the past hunting season. This is a good activity for the cold-blooded hunter and you can even take the whole family along with you.

I can go on and on. Here are some other things you can do; start reloading, refletch your arrows, find a wild game dinner at a local church, attend an outdoor expo, tie flys, ice fishing, trap, start praticing your turkey calls or pick up another call, etc…

So next time you start feel closed in pick up one of these activities or do something you haven’t done in awhile, you feel better and pretty soon you’ll be turkey hunting or going out on opening day of your favorite fish season. Next year after deer season you’ll be looking forward to your new adventure. Turn your hobby into a lifestyle!

Drive safe!

How about another option.. My dad and his buddies just caught 170 walleyes in the river in 5 hours … Sucks to be stuck in the cabin fever cause that’s some good eating.. And no they only kept the 15 limit
