Bring the mullet back!

 Where do I begin on this post? I have so much to say but don’t know how to say it, heck right now I don’t even have a clue on what to call this blog! I am going to be all over the map on this one so bear with me.

I guess I can start by backing up a little bit and explain why I am about to say what I am about to say.

I was in a band in the 80’s, we had friends or made friends that were also in bands, we supported each other in anyway we could. It didn’t matter what kind of style it was thrash, rock, punk or R and B, if there was a show that we were playing at we had one or 2 play with us and vise versa, if we needed to help set up they would help us or we would help them, there was no animosity or bitterness toward “rival” bands, we had fun the only tension in the music scene was internal.  When a band member did leave to venture into a different project they were supported and respected.

Fast forward to today. It is still going on today, bands are still supporting each other but in an orgainized group of select style of music. I still have my finger on the pulse of local music and there is a group called The Metal Union, what they do is a bunch of different bands  promoting and booking gigs for each other.

How cool is that!

Now I’m in Team D.I.R.T., it is just the opposite of when I was in a band. It seems that some of these outdoor groups, internet hunting teams or what ever you want to call them, they don’t support anybody but themselves, sometimes only them not even supporting their team mates, just themselves for their own personal gain, thinking they’re the only rooster in the hen house or are to big for their britches. Some think they are the next big thing and frankly there content is as Charles Barkley would say is turrible. When they get feed back every says it’s great, the only thing that is doing is encourage them to make more crap. When they do get critized they blow it off because all the smoke being blown up their butts.

Why are these hunting internet groups ego trippin’?

Some teams think they invented the wheel, what I’m trying to say is that if they are doing something that another group took their idea or just because they did it 1st. If they did a little research, the “awesome” idea they had has already been done 1,000 times over.

Some of these groups are just Facebook pages. No blogs, website, podcasts, or videos to speak of, just pictures of what they do and they think they are the next big thing because they killed a buck? The best cliche’ here is they are putting the cart before the horse…

Now don’t get me wrong, there are some awesome teams out there, I hardly watch hunting shows on t.v. anymore or read magazines. The majority though… no comment.

Now, I am not going to bash or praise any group on here, 1 it is unprofessional to say it in public and 2 the ones that do need work wouldn’t listen anyways. If they want my opinion I will give it, but it will be privately on the phone or face to face.

Another thing that gets my goat is the lies and 2 faced people. This business is a small niche’ and have loose lips. People have told me have what went on with other groups and it is simply mind-boggling.  Some rumors were lies, out right lies. Mismanage skills or have the wool pulled over peoples eyes. People like this have no business in any kind of business period.

Some, wait let me rephrase that, MOST of these groups are simply non professional, ego driven machines that are in it for the wrong reasons, some have more money than brains.

Some teams have great places that hunt but don’t video, some video and have smaller animals, some have good animals and film but the editing is bad. I can hontestly say all of these groups have a major clog missing including my own to make a top notch hunting crew.

Team D.I.R.T. is it what it is. We do not pull any punches or pretend we are something we are not, we are honest with ourselves and have fun doing it, but we mix in integrity, honestly, and hard work. We look in the mirror everyday and get our chops busted by other members of the team or a few select few that give us advice. So when we lay our head down on the pillow every night we sleep well.

Is ours the best video with great editing? Nope!

Our the blogs written like a magazine article? NOPE!

Do we kill the biggest animal? Nope!

Are we honest and have fun? YEP!

What we do bring what we call infomainment, we try to entertain while passing along tips or product that we use and trust, and bring the camera where ever we can.

Well, I just thought of the name of this post as most of you have read it, the reason I titled it is because when I was in a the band in the 80’s people supported each other and had fun, why can’t we as internet groups support each other, band together and become a bigger force in the outdoor indusrty?

I see the writing on the wall and I beleive television is dying, the internet is going to replace the television as the #1 place to be entertained. Let’s support each other, positivly critize each other and make each other better by doing this.
