2 outta 3 ain’t bad

Let me first say that I am not superstitious, but there is one thing I have never done. I haven’t ever bagged the trifecta in one year.

My Trifecta consist of a turkey, a deer and a trophy bass (20 inch or better).

I have had a combination of all three but never 3 outta 3.

Don’t get me wrong, I have caught or killed more than 3 species.

 I have caught some good pike, beefcake walleye, killed tons of rabbits, woodcock pheasants in a season…but my 3 passions, NOPE!

This last year has been a trying year to say the least, major elbow surgery, alot happing in my personal life and work. Yeah that four letter word work had it in for me with my turkey adventures to say the least.

I thought I wouldn’t get a hog bass this year. I only went fishing 4 times the whole year but I was blessed with a picture taker.

That’s one.

Deer season came up, with my elbow being on the mend I didn’t practice as much with either my bow or gun as I would like, but again I bagged 2 deer, one with a bow and one with a gun.

That is number 2.

Now the pressure was on to finally complete my quest, I was fully healed, did plenty of scouting and was going to use my gun, it shouldda been a slam dunk.

NOT!

The weather didn’t cooperate, and my work schedule didn’t help either working late don’t make for a good hunt. I also got rained out 2 hunts and the other 2 the birds didn’t get the script, I even sent it UPS. Dang birds!

Don’t get me wrong I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to have the chance at going after these critters and having a decent paying job, but I would just like to complete the my trifecta.

Well, I am forgetting about last years hunt, another clean slate.

Going to start my quest starting tomorrow. One of my oldest friends and I are going to a sweet honey hole to start anew.

Come on Boss Hog you’re the first of three on my list, let’s get this out-of-the-way, We’ll smile and take some pictures and I’ll give ya a free lip piercing, no charge…You are getting off easy compared to the other 2…

Meatloaf couldn’t have said it better… 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. It isn’t great or awesome, but it ain’t that bad.
